It consists of sets of terms naming descriptors in a hierarchical structure that permits searching at various levels of specificity. This thesaurus is used by NLM for indexing articles from biomedical journals, cataloging of books, documents, etc. This collection references MeSH terms published in 2012.

This resource is a provider. This means that while it may have its own prefix, it actually reuses the identifiers provided by the mesh prefix. For all use cases, you should use mesh instead of mesh.2012.
